thats awesome i sorta did something like this with my savannah on accident when i take the top off his cage he runs to a branch thats highest in his cage and just stares at me till i pick him up. its amazing how? smart monitors are but thats amazing how you trained them like that

@CronusandRhea that depends on the monitor species. I’d be more worried about the cat killing the monitor? when the monitor is small, but my male lace monitor would definitely have a go at a cat.
@crocdoc2 That’s sweet. Hey its probably a silly question but do you think when one day I do have a monitor I should keep it away from my cats.? I mean my cats do well with dogs, but would a large monitor kill them?

@SebasDownUnder they don’t make any attempt to bite when I’m helping them out of the enclosure and are generally pretty good, but I have to be really careful never to trigger a feeding response accidentally. If you watch any of the feeding videos, you’ll see that food triggers an incredibly strong response in these guys – particularly the? big male. Lace monitors aren’t the sort of thing you want to take a casual bite from, for bites are very damaging. They have really sharp teeth.
Thats very impressive! Do they still bite you now and then? even though they now know that your hand is safe and helps them out the cage?
